The R series has the better mechanical shutter rated for many more actuations and can shoot faster burst rates in uncompressed raw. This was understated in the video.

The lack of EVF could've been addressed by either adding a tilt&swivel screen, or making an optional hot shoe EVF for the camera, like they did for the GF1.

Lumix S9 - Better auto focus, bigger sensor, better stabilization, better video features, real time luts, screen rotates forward, bigger battery , interchangeable lenses. It's funny how the Fuji gets insane praise and for nearly the same price with far less versatility. Not saying the S9 is perfect but just an odd bias by other RUclipsrs towards fuji if you factor in its limitations

hey man, Ive been researching cameras all day now and im so tired ahah. I need a rig set up for Rave videography DJ's , festivals etc.. Mirrorless with fast auto focus and some stability . (currently using a gx7 standard lens, handheld it is not stable enough for me and need that extra bit of quality, I know a gimble will help but I need to get shots where im zooming in and out fast at times) Everytime I find a camera, I always seem to find there's 1 thing missing. I want to spend about £1600 on the set up.

Is the focusing scale supposed to move independently from the focus ring?

Both are great cameras...very hard to decide...i am not interested in video features...I never touched the video button, I'm only interested in stills...so I think the XS 20 is the winner..five years counts...

I really want to buy a S9 just for the stabilisation. It's a shame there is no slow motion in open gate tho, as I would have used that feature. Still its going to be easier to use this camera in vertical orientation because its lighter and smaller. Great review - thanks
